PAYING ATTENTION TO THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY, WILL CHANGE THE WHOLE STORY. . .

Development of young children encompasses their survival and good health. It also involves their cognitive, emotional, ethical and social growth.  What the child experiences from birth onward influences the society of the future. On this concept VAROD, in collaboration with Ms. Linda Rose, the child psychologist from United Kingdom, conducted an empowering programme on the 08th and 09th of February 2020.

75 number of catch up class children took part in this work shop on the first day the 8th of February and 60 children from VRAOD’s institutional rehabilitation centers participated on the 2nd day the 9th of February, which were the days long event with the provision of lunch and snacks in between as children’s refreshments.

Rev Fr. Vincent De Paul Croos CMF, Mr. Kennedy the probation officer of Divisional Secretarial, CBR and IBR staff of VAROD, too joined hands to assist the children who took part.

It was explained that “a child educated only in school is an uneducated child”, based on this maxim developmental therapies which were intended to promote social communication and other social interactions were performed in between with designed play activities to help children overcome their challenges and improve the quality of their interactions in order to help them to gain confidence in their own ability to learn, lead and to acquire typical skills. Further this work shop was planned to provide the children with their own tools to navigate from the hood related challenges with a sense of wonder and enjoyment.

The aim of the therapist was  to highly motivate the activities such as being responsible to what the child does, in particular imitating or commenting on actions that the child performs and encourage ongoing interaction around these activities such as turn-taking, requests, gestures, or alternation of gaze between the activity and the adult.

The children found this workshop really an insightful and interesting as VAROD expected. The couple of entire days programme came to an end with the excellent feed backs.

We, VAROD too very sincerely thank Mrs. Linda for her generous contribution and supports towards our organization and we wish her the very best for her future endeavors.
