One year planning of CBR was scheduled to the 27^th of July 2019 at Naeithal VAROD office in Mullaiteevu. The CBR Coordinators from the Districts of Klinochci, Mullaittivu, and Vavuniya along with the Fieldworkers had gathered with the Executive Director for the event.

VAROD had spent considerable time, preparing the community-based rehabilitation related functions for the next 12 months. It is affirmed, that it would develop its organizational culture and practices, which reflect its service towards the differently-abled individuals in the community.

The planned strategies are to be decentralized to the community level at districts in Northern Province, where CBR activities are already carried out from Vavuniya Main office, Mullaiteevu Naiethal office and from Kilinochchi Silovam office. These centers are to be jointly worked in close collaboration with supports such as primary health care facilities, physiotherapy trainings, institutional supports, livelihood supports and awareness towards Cerebral Palsy. New Health workers at these facilities will receive one to two weeks training which will be provided with an orientation to the CBR strategy and enables them to identify people with disabilities as well as referring them to the nearest CBR town Centers.

Varod’s pre planned CBR programmes will provide a link between people with disabilities and development initiatives, which need to become inclusive so that people with disabilities and their families become empowered.  As community involvement is a vital element of development, Pre planned activities will strongly highlight the need for CBR related functions, to move towards the engrossment of the community.
